NU sweeps DLSU to remain spotless; UST survives Adamson in 5-set thriller


National University continued its winning ways after repeating over De La Salle University in a sweeping fashion, 25-21, 25-20, 25-17, as the second round of UAAP Season 84 women's volleyball tournament kicked off on Thursday.

Meanwhile, University of Santo Tomas survived yet another five-setter, recovering from two sets down to clobber Adamson University, 24-26, 20-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-12.

Team captain Eya Laure had another breakout performance, finishing with 21 points to go along with 13 receptions as UST improved to 6-2 while the Lady Falcons dropped to 4-4.

University of the Philippines and Ateneo de Manila University both made quick work of their respective foes as the Lady Maroons kept University of the East winless in eight games.

UP drew a 25-23, 26-24, 25-17 conquest to improve to 4-4 behind Alyssa Bertolano's 14 points, Niña Ytang's 13, and Jewel Encarnacion's 10 as they snapped a four-game losing skid.

The Blue Eagles, meanwhile, defeated Far Eastern University with a 25-22, 25-13, 25-23 victory for an improved 4-4 win-loss card while the Lady Tamaraws slid to 1-7.

Faith Nisperos carried the scoring cudgels for Ateneo as the high-flying open spiker tallied 19 points anchored on 15 attacks, three aces, and a block.
