PLDT reasserts mastery over Cignal, goes 2-0 in semis round

PLDT remained unscathed in the 2022 PVL Invitational Conference semifinals round after a repeat victory over Cignal, 15-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-23, on Thursday at the Ynares Centre in Antipolo City.

Bucking a slow start, PLDT improved to 2-0 after previously sweeping Army in the semis opener last Tuesday while Cignal opened its campaign with a 0-1 card.

Dell Palomata led the charge for PLDT with a team-high 19 points built on 16 attacks and three blocks while Juls Samonte and Mika Reyes chipped in 12 and 11 markers each as PLDT continued its surge in the tournament.

Veteran Jovy Prado provided the spark with nine points to go along with impressive 21 digs as opposite hitter Toni Rose Basas chimed in with nine of her own.

The win saw Power Hitters reassert their might over the HD Spikers whom they routed in the elimination round with a similar four-set romp.

Both teams return to action this Saturday in the same venue with PLDT taking on Creamline at 5:30 p.m. while Cignal will face winless Army in the opening salvo at 2:30 p.m. – RC, GMA News
