It will be a busy off-season for NCAA and UAAP volleyball teams as the 2022 Shakey's Super League (SSL) is set to roll out next month, giving the squads ample time to prepare for their respective mother leagues.

The intercollegiate league is tipped to kick off on September 22 with the games expected to run for two months until November 28. The NCAA and UAAP are set to start their new season within the first quarter of 2023.

Reigning NCAA champion College of Saint Benilde as well as its UAAP counterpart National University will lead the field just weeks after sweeping their way to the title.

Joining them are Arellano University, Jose Rizal University, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Lyceum of the Philippines University, Mapua University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Emilio Aguinaldo College, San Beda University, and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.

Two UAAP teams, Adamson University and University of the Philippines, have yet to give their commitment but De La Salle University, Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas, Far Eastern University, and University of the East are already sure to join the competition.

Aside from focusing on collegiate volleyball, SSL is also eyeing developing grassroots talents with the second conference set to feature 18 regions. 81 provinces, and 145 cities within the country. — LA, GMA News
