Alyssa Valdez hopes fans appreciate the sport more, respect each other for volleyball community's growth
For Alyssa Valdez, volleyball fans are some of the most passionate sports fans in the country.
Alyssa said the fans really give their all in supporting their favorite athletes.
"They would really give time and effort talaga. They give their time and effort to watch our games. They'll come from different, parang provinces pa. And they are very appreciative in the sense na they would give you mga gifts also. So, we really really appreciate it," she said.
However, Valdez said that same passion also translates online and she called on everyone to 'Think Before You Click' when posting their thoughts and opinions about the sport.
"There are times din po talaga na on social media, syempre we really can't control everything but ayun, I hope everyone would really think twice before clicking anything because sometimes if it's too much din talaga, siyempre mentally it will affect other people as well," she said.
She also hopes that fans respect each other for the growth of the sport's community.
"I hope people and supporters can actually just really appreciate the sport, the players, and each other, and respect each other para po mas maganda, mas maging, alam mo 'yun, mag-blossom pa 'yung community natin."
"Every one naman po, meron kanya-kanya rin po talagang opinion, but hopefully at the end of the day, may respeto pa rin tayo sa bawat isa. I think respect should always be there because, alam mo 'yun, everyone is just doing everything that they can do also — on and off the court, may it be the supporters or the players, or the management," she said.
"Let's just be more appreciative with everything lang, with all the little things lang. So, yun lang naman."
Alyssa also believes that as players, they also have the responsibility to also accept opinions.
"Sabi mo nga po, probably it's the price we have — other players or mga celebrities also, na iyon yung nakukuha natin and I think we also have the responsibility naman kung paano rin namin i-accept yung mga ganung bagay. So, it goes both, I mean, like, hand in hand din naman."
