Oliver Almadro gets the better of former team as Petro Gazz sweeps Choco Mucho

Oliver Almadro got the win against his old club as Petro Gazz eked out a 25-18, 25-20, 25-21 victory against Choco Mucho in the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

Almadro, who called the shots for the Flying Titans in three years, recently jumped ship to the Angels. The team now bounced back from a previous loss to improve to 1-1 while Choco Mucho dropped to a similar 1-1 card.

Veteran lefty Aiza Maizo-Pontillas continued to defy time, finishing with 19 points highlighted by 18 attacks to go along with 14 digs  while Grethcel Soltones chipped in 11 markers on top of 13 successful receptions.

Middle blocker Remy Palma and Lourdes Clemente each chimed in with seven markers while Jonah Sabete churned out nine.

Choco Mucho, which opened its season with a sweep victory against Akari, banked on Kat Tolentino who paced them with 14 points as no other Flying Titan scored in double digits.

Petro Gazz will return to action on Saturday, February 18, against Cignal while Choco Mucho tackles defending champion Creamline on Tuesday.
