La Salle, UST sweep Ateneo, UE to stay on track for semis bonus

De La Salle University and University of Santo Tomas remained on track for twice-to-beat bonuses in the Final Four after sweeping their respective foes in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

La Salle swept Ateneo de Manila University, 25-12, 25-12, 25-18, to move a win away from a Final Four incentive. 

Thea Gagate had 16 points, while Shevana Laput had 15 points as the Lady Spikers improved to 11-2.

Geezel Tsunashima and Lyann De Guzman had six points apiece as Ateneo slipped to 4-9.

Earlier, the Golden Tigresses bounced back from a loss against Far Eastern University and defeated University of the East, 25-19, 25-9, 25-17.

Angge Poyos had 25 points, while Regina Jurado had 11 points as UST also improved to 11-2.

UST, La Salle, and National University all share the same number of wins and losses.

Meanwhile, KC Cepada had nine points for the Lady Warriors.
