UST pulls off upset against FEU to force do-or-die

University of Santo Tomas pulled off an upset against top-ranked Far Eastern University, 25-23, 25-19, 28-26, on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena to force a rubber match for a finals slot in the UAAP Season 86 men's volleyball tournament.

Josh Ybañez delivered the game-winner for the Golden Spikers as he registered 16 points to stay alive in the tourney. Sherwin Umandal had 14 points, while Rey De Vega and Edly Colinares had 10 points apiece for the no. 4 team.

"Sobrang saya namin ngayon na nanalo kami pero hindi pa tapos, kailangan pa namin sila talunin ulit,” said Ybañez.

(We're happy that we got the win but it's not yet over. We still need to win against them.)

Dryx Saavedra had 14 points, while Martin Bugaoan had 10 points as the Tamaraws suffered their first loss against the España-based squad this season.

UST and FEU will play the decider on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
