Alas Pilipinas at the AVC Challenge Cup for Women

Alas Pilipinas overcame Chinese Taipei, 25-13, 25-21, 25-18, to seal the top spot of Pool A in the AVC Challenge Cup for Women on Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

With the win, the Philippine national volleyball team completed a sweep of its group matches which included wins against Australia, India, and Iran.

The Philippines led 4-7 before a 7-0 run happened which handed the nationals a 10-point lead before eventually seizing its fourth win in the tourney.

Eya Laure had 15 points from 12 attacks, two aces, and a block, while Vanie Gandler added 12 points for Alas Plipinas.

Australia will join the Philippines in the semifinals as the second best team in the group with three wins and one loss.

The Philippines will face Kazakhstan in the semifinals on Tuesday, while Australia will go against Vietnam.
