De Brito open to adding Brooke Van Sickle, Savi Davison to Alas pool

Alas Pilipinas Women coach Jorge de Brito said he is open to the idea of expanding the current national team pool, in particular the addition of Filipino-foreign stars Brooke Van Sickle and Savi Davison.

De Brito shared that the two aces would be great additional pieces in what they are trying to form for the national team.

"Sure [I'm open to their additions], any Philippine player. Both of them are very good players," de Brito told GMA News Online in a message.

Van Sickle and Davison are making great impressions in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) with Petro Gazz and PLDT, respectively, with both players leading their squads in the ongoing All-Filipino Conference.

The Filipino-American Van Sickle even won an MVP award during the 2024 All-Filipino Conference when she steered the Angels to a bronze medal finish in her first stint with the club.

The Filipino-Canadian Davison, meanwhile, has also been among the top performers for the High Speed Hitters alongside the likes of Majoy Baron, Mika Reyes, Fiola Ceballos, and Erika Santos.

De Brito, though, stressed that as far as he knows, the Philippine National Volleyball Federation has yet to give formal invitations to the two players as he said the national team is currently sticking to the same pool.

"No official invite as I know. Until now, we remain with our last season lineup."

If ever Van Sickle and Davison get the call to join Alas, they will bolster the young pool that consists of stars like Angel Canino, Fifi Sharma, Thea Gagate, Eya Laure, Sisi Rondina, Alyssa Solomon, and Bella Belen among others.
