Jaja Santiago stays in Japan, joins Denso Airybees
Jaja Santiago, who now goes by her Japanese name Sachi Minowa, is set for a new chapter in the top-tier league SV.League after signing with the Denso Airybees.
The club announced Santiago’s arrival on Wednesday, with the Filipina middle blocker set to embark on her seventh season in the league and third stint with a Japanese team.
The 6-foot-5 tower previously ended a two-year stint with Osaka, which she helped capture the title in the previous SV. League edition. Before that, she suited up for Saitama Ageo Medics for four seasons.
"I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to play for Denso Airybees this season. A big thank you to the team for welcoming me — I’m excited to work hard and contribute to our success," Santiago said.
"To our amazing fans, your support means everything to us — let’s make this season unforgettable together. My goal is to give my best every game, improve continuously, and help us achieve great results. Together, I believe we can reach our goal and make everyone proud!"
Santiago will join a Denso side that finished fourth last season, where the squad racked up 29 wins against 15 losses.
This won't be the first time Denso will get the services of a Filipina talent as it previously featured Jia De Guzman, a Philippine national team member and a veteran setter.
With the club, De Guzman was able to seize the Japan V. Cup title last April 2024.
