First-timers, returning players happy with Manila experience at FIVB Worlds
Wow, Philippines!
First-time visitors and returning athletes competing in the Philippines for the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship said they are having a great time in the country.
Among those who love returning to the Philippines is crowd favorite Micah Christenson of Team USA.
“It’s always so special for us. We don’t expect any extra support, but man… I’ve been here two years in a row now, and it’s just been so much support—overwhelming support in the best way possible,” Christenson said.
“As a team, we love coming here, representing Team USA, and feeling all the love from the Filipino fans. We also go back home and tell people how amazing our experience was in the Philippines. It’s been a real honor and pleasure for us.”
His teammate Erik Shoji echoed the sentiment.
“It feels amazing. We got used to it last season, and it feels great to be back. We’re so happy to be here—the fans are amazing, the hotel has been great. Everything has been the best so far, so we’re really happy to be back,” he said.
Brazil’s Arthur Bento Buczmiejuk was impressed by the energy during their Sunday match against China.
“I love it. It’s very nice playing here in the Philippines—the fans are very passionate. I hope to see you all at the next games. It’s going to be really fun.”
