Brazil, Serbia sweep Czech Republic, China in Pool H action of FIVB Worlds

FIVB Men's World Championship: Brazil v Czech Republic

Brazil and Serbia pulled off similar sweep victories to bolster their respective campaigns at the 2025 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship on Tuesday.

The world no. 3 Brazil blanked Czech Republic with a commanding 25-11, 25-22, 25-18 win to inch closer to a Round of 16 spot with a spotless 2-0 record in Pool H.

Star opposite spiker Alan Souza led with 12 points while Arthur Bento Buczmiejuk and Judson Amabel Nunas da Cunha chipped in 11 and 10 markers each in the three-set masterclass.

Serbia likewise eked out a straight-sets victory by fending off a late Set 3 comeback from Asian powerhouse China, 25-18, 25-19, 29-27, to notch its breakthrough win in the tournament.

The Serbians leaned on the troika of Drazen Luburic, Pavle Peric, and Aleksander Nedeljkovic to spoil the rally by the Chinese and cruise to a 1-1 card.

Luburic detonated for 17 points while Peric and Nedeljkovic both posted 11 markers to help Serbie bounce back from an opening day loss to Czech Republic.

Interestingly, Brazil and Serbia will have to take on each other on Thursday with a Round of 16 spot at stake.
