Alas Pilipinas moves up 11 spots in FIVB men’s world rankings
The Philippines jumped 11 spots in the FIVB men’s world rankings following Tuesday’s upset victory over Egypt in the 2025 FIVB Men's World Championship.
Alas Pilipinas defeated the higher-ranked Egyptian team, 29–27, 23–25, 25–21, 25–21, climbing from No. 88 to No. 77 in the standings.
Egypt, meanwhile, dropped one spot to No. 22 from No. 21.
According to the FIVB website, the ranking system takes into account every match and set played by national teams.
Poland remains the world No. 1, followed by Brazil and Italy.
The Philippines will still play world No. 15 Iran in its last preliminary round game on Thursday.
Alas Pilipinas needs to finish in the top two spots in Pool A to advance to the Round of 16. All teams in Pool A currently hold identical 1-1 records and have three points each.
