PVL: Petro Gazz outlasts Akari in five-Setter; ZUS beats Creamline to go 3-0

Petro Gazz outlasted Akari in a thrilling five-setter, 29-27, 25-22, 19-25, 17-25, 15-11, on Thursday in the PVL Reinforced Conference at the Filoil Centre in San Juan.

Lindsey Vander Weide led the Angels with 22 points, while three other players scored in double figures — Brooke Van Sickle with 19, MJ Phillips with 13, and Myla Pablo with 12 — as Petro Gazz notched its third win in four games.

Akari import Annie Mitchem finished with 30 points built on 25 attacks, three blocks, and two aces, while Fifi Sharma led the locals with 18 points as the Chargers absorbed their first loss and slipped to 2-1.

In the second game, ZUS Coffee extended its winning streak to three with a 25-27, 25-17, 25-20, 25-22 victory over Creamline.

Anna DeBeer exploded for 37 points off 35 attacks and two blocks to power the Thunderbelles to a 3-0 start. AC Miner added 13 points to back up the offense.

Creamline import Courtney Rose Schwan finished with 18 points, while Alyssa Valdez contributed 13 as the Cool Smashers fell to 2-2.
