PVL: Farm Fresh clinches top spot in Reinforced Conference QF; Petro Gazz stuns PLDT
The Farm Fresh Foxies secured the top spot in the PVL Reinforced Conference quarterfinals as the preliminary round wrapped up on Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Farm Fresh swept Chery Tiggo, 25-17, 25-23, 29-27, with import Eli Rousseaux scoring 20 points from 17 attacks and three blocks, while Ces Molina led the locals with 14 points as the Foxies finished the elimination round with a 7-1 record.
The win spoiled the 28-point effort of Yunieska Robles-Batista, as the Crossovers bowed out of the competition with a 2-6 record.
Later, the Petro Gazz Angels defeated the PLDT High Speed Hitters, 25-21, 27-25, 23-25, 25-21. PLDT dropping one set also assured Farm Fresh of the top spot.
Savi Davison delivered 27 points, while import Anastasiia Bavykina added 21, as Petro Gazz closed the preliminary round with a 5-3 card.
Import Lindsey Vander Weide erupted for 35 points, while Brooke Van Sickle added 27, as PLDT finished third in the eliminations with a 6-2 record.
Earlier in the day, quarterfinals-bound Capital1 (4-4) defeated winless Galeries, 12-25, 29-27, 25-19, 25-18.
In the quarterfinals, Farm Fresh will face Akari, while No. 2 Zus Coffee will play Capital1. Third-seeded PLDT will go up against Cignal, and No. 4 Creamline will battle Petro Gazz in the knockout quarterfinals.
