Alas Pilipinas Women stun Thailand for PH’s first SEA Games gold in beach volleyball

The Alas Pilipinas women’s team defeated defending champion Thailand to win the 2025 Southeast Asian Games beach volleyball tournament on Friday.

In the first match, the duo of Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons swept the Thais, 21–17, 21–15. The second match saw Dij Rodriguez and Sunnie Villapando outlast their opponents, 21–13, 17–21, 15–6, to claim the gold medal.

This marks the Philippines’ first gold medal in beach volleyball since the sport was included in the SEA Games in 2003. The country previously bagged bronze medals in the women's event in 2019 and 2022.
