PVL: Petro Gazz announces leave of absence ahead of All-Filipino Conference

Petro Gazz is pausing its Premier Volleyball League (PVL) journey, announcing a leave of absence from the league after a colorful seven-year run that produced multiple championships and developed high-caliber players.

The Angels announced the decision on Saturday, saying that it was made with “careful consideration” as the organization shifts its focus toward supporting the next generation of volleyball stars.

"Petro Gazz announces its decision to take a leave of absence from the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), marking a pause in its competitive participation after seven successful years," the team said in a statement.

"This decision was made with careful consideration, as volleyball has always been at the core of Petro Gazz's identity. Over the years, the team built a legacy of excellence—winning four PVL championships, developing national team-caliber athletes, and establishing itself as one of the league's pillars."

The Angels also said it will support another PVL club in Nxled by "recommending its players, coaches, and staff, guided by its winning culture and core values."

Petro Gazz had already let go several of its players over the past few days.

It first announced the exit of longtime setter Chie Saet followed by middle blocker and team captain Rey Palma, both of whom have brought their acts to Strong Group Athletics. The Angels had also announced the departures of Blove Barbon and Joy Dacoron.

Petro Gazz has been one of the PVL’s most competitive franchises, winning a total of four PVL titles including the most recent one during the 2025 Reinforced Conference last November, spoiling the dream run of a young Zus Coffee side.
