PVL: Galeries Tower pulls off upset vs Nxled, Brooke Van Sickle

Galeries pulled off a major upset in the PVL All-Filipino Conference after defeating Brooke Van Sickle and Nxled, 25-19, 17-25, 25-20, 25-21, on Thursday at the Filoil Centre in San Juan.

Erika Jin Deloria and Roselle Baliton paced the Highrisers with 16 points each, while Gayle Pascual added 13 markers.

For Baliton, the victory was a testament to the team’s unity.

“Ginusto talaga namin na manalo, at nagtulong-tulong lang,” Baliton said, according to the league website.

Dolly Verzosa anchored Galeries’ defense with 14 digs and 12 receptions, while Julia Coronel dished out 15 of the team’s 19 excellent sets.

The win spoiled Van Sickle’s 21-point outing and Chiara May Permentilla’s 16 markers.

With the victory, Galeries improved to 2-2, while Nxled absorbed its first loss after opening the conference with three straight wins.
