PVL: PLDT stops late Choco Mucho rally to grab fourth win in a row

Streaking PLDT bucked a Set 1 hiccup and fended off a late Set 4 rally by Choco Mucho to eke out a 23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-19 win in the PVL 2026 Open Conference on Saturday at the Filoil Centre.

The High Speed Hitters nearly collapsed in the endgame, but a crucial pair of points from Alleiah Malaluan bailed out the league-leading PLDT en route to their fourth win in a row and a 7-1 card.

PLDT took full control in that Set 4 clash with Dell Palomata making the most of her court appearance, first denying Caitlin Viray on the opposite then unleashing a quick kill that sent the High Speed Hitters to a 22-14 cushion.

An attack error from Viray then gave PLDT a comfortable 23-15 lead.

But Choco Mucho, which was coming off a tough five-set loss to Farm Fresh, refused to go silent as Sisi Rondina and Maddie Madayag sparked a quick 4-0 blast that forced PLDT to call for a timeout.

Malaluan, though, came up clutch and unloaded a strong hammer from the right side before acing her service to close it out and help PLDT tighten its grip on the top spot.

Savi Davison starred for PLDT with 19 points, 15 receptions, and six digs while Kim Kianna Dy chipped in 17 markers built on 12 attacks and five blocks. Majoy Baron and Malaluan chipped in 13 and 10 markers apiece.

Rondina carried the offense for Choco Mucho with 23 points, 14 receptions, and eight digs while Kat Tolentino churned out 15 markers.
