UAAP: FEU stays unbeaten; NU rebounds at UP’s expense
Far Eastern University extended its perfect run in the UAAP Season 88 men’s volleyball tournament, defeating the University of the East, 19-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-11, on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Amet Bituin led the Tamaraws with 15 points built on 14 attacks and a block, along with 11 receptions. Dryx Saavedra matched his output with 15 points as FEU improved to 8-0. Lirick Mendoza and Mikko Espartero chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Raquim Aceron paced UE with 21 points and 14 receptions as the Red Warriors fell to 1-7.
In the second match, National University bounced back with a straight-sets win over the University of the Philippines, 25-19, 25-14, 25-19.
The victory came after the Bulldogs’ loss to De La Salle University last Sunday.
Buds Buddin finished with 14 points, seven receptions, and four digs, while Leo Ordiales also scored 14 points. Jade Disquitado added 13 points and seven receptions as NU improved to 6-2.
Olayemi Raheem recorded 12 points for the Fighting Maroons, who dropped to 2-6.
