UAAP: FEU sweeps UE in women's volleyball second-round opener

Far Eastern University opened the second round of the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament with a commanding 25-11, 25-15, 25-22 victory over the University of the East.

Faida Bakanke led the way with 14 points built on 12 attacks, while Jaz Ellarina added 11 points as the Lady Tamaraws bounced back from their loss to the University of Santo Tomas last weekend.

FEU played without Gerz Petallo, who is dealing with an apparent right arm injury.

“Against UE, siyempre, kailangan naming mag-ready in a manner na wala nga si Gerz (Petallo). Nagkaroon kami ng few adjustments. Malaking factor din na na-run namin nang maayos. Hindi rin kasi biro ‘yung UE kalaban,” said head coach Tina Salak.

Khy Cepada, meanwhile, posted 15 points, 10 digs, and seven receptions to lead the still winless Lady Warriors.

With the win, the Lady Tamaraws improved to 5-3, moving into solo third place.
