PVL: Choco Mucho downs ZUS Coffee ahead of play-In; Nxled beats PLDT
Choco Mucho wrapped up its preliminary round campaign in the PVL All-Filipino Conference with a 27-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-19 victory over ZUS Coffee on Thursday at the Filoil Centre in San Juan.
Sisi Rondina led the Flying Titans with 18 points and 20 receptions, while Deanna Wong orchestrated the offense with 14 excellent sets out of 18 attempts. Kat Tolentino added 12 points, Lorraine Pecaña contributed 11, while Des Cheng and Maddie Madayag chipped in 10 points apiece.
For ZUS Coffee, Jov Gonzaga and Thea Gagate finished with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Choco Mucho ended the preliminaries with a 4–5 record, while ZUS Coffee closed at 1–8 heading into the play-in tournament.
Earlier in the day, Nxled overcame PLDT, 21-25, 25-23, 25-13, 25-14.
Brooke Van Sickle powered the Chameleons with 21 points, along with 11 receptions and nine digs. Jonah Sabete and Myla Pablo added 15 and 13 points, respectively, as Nxled improved to 5–4 and remained in contention for a direct spot in the qualifying round.
Savi Davison and Alleiah Malaluan led PLDT with 18 and 13 points, respectively, as the High Speed Hitters absorbed their second loss of the conference, dropping to 7–2.
