UAAP: Adamson eliminates UE in women’s volleyball; Red Warriors end losing skid in men’s volleyball

Adamson University swept the University of the East, 25-15, 25-18, 28-26, to secure back-to-back wins in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.

The victory also eliminated the Lady Red Warriors from Final Four contention as they fell to 0-10.

Frances Mordi delivered 18 points, along with six receptions and six digs, to lead the Lady Falcons, while Shaina Nitura added 13 points, eight receptions, and nine digs as Adamson improved to 6-4.

Khy Cepada, meanwhile, tallied 14 points, four receptions, and three digs to pace UE in the losing effort.

In the men’s division, the UE Red Warriors snapped a six-game losing skid by repeating their victory over Adamson, 25-23, 26-24, 20-25, 25-22.

Raquim Aceron led the way with 21 points and 24 receptions, while Roy Piojo also scored 21 points. Xjhann Camaymayan chipped in 15 points as UE improved to 2-8.

Mark Leo Coguimbal, meanwhile, finished with 11 points as the Falcons slipped to a similar 2-8 record.
