PVL: Farm Fresh ousts Nxled to reach semis for first time
Farm Fresh stunned star-studded Nxled to complete a 25-17, 25-20, 25-19 win in their play-in match and barge into the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.
The Foxies pulled away midway through Set 3 before resisting a late Nxled comeback attempt, securing their maiden semifinals appearance in franchise history.
Trisha Tubu led the balanced attack with 12 points while Ces Molina and Ara Galang chipped in 10 and nine markers each. Molina also grabbed 11 receptions while Galang had six as the Foxies eliminated the Chameleons from contention.
Nxled raced to an early slim lead when Brooke Van Sickle sent the Chameleons to an 8-6 lead in Set 3. But the Foxies flipped the switch and unleashed a wild 10-1 rampage starring Ria Meneses, Tubu, and Molina as they took a 16-9 cushion.
Myla Pablo and MJ Phillips, two former stars of the defunct Petro Gazz squad, sparked a 4-2 swing to help the Foxies trim the gap to four, 16-12. But Mylene Paat and Honey Royse Tubino sparked off the bench by bringing Farm Fresh to a much-needed 21-16 edge.
Nxled then hit a snag when Pablo went down with an apparent left ankle injury, but Lyann De Guzman subbed in and brought some life into the Chameleons.
The former Ateneo star scored two quick points before Phillips delivered a quick kill, with Nxled still trailing 23-19.
Tubino, though, provided the finishing blow by releasing two consecutive bullets from the left side as Farm Fresh clinched its best finish so far in history.
They will now head to the single-round semifinals alongside PLDT, Cignal, and Creamline.
