PVL: Trisha Tubu catches fire late as Farm Fresh sends PLDT to 0-2 in semis
Trisha Tubu pulled Farm Fresh from a four-point hole in Set 4 as they completed a 25-23, 18-25, 25-19, 25-23 upset win over PLDT in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The lefty opposite hitter fueled Foxies' 9-3 closing run in the fourth set as they turned things around to stun the top-seeded High Speed Hitters and improve their chances for a first-ever finals appearance.
Farm Fresh, which lost to Cignal in the single-round semis opener last Saturday, improved to 1-1 while PLDT uncharacteristically dropped to 0-2 after also bowing to Creamline.
The tandem of Kim Kianna Dy and Alleiah Malaluan took over offensively early in Set 4 before Mika Reyes returned an overpass to send PLDT to a much-needed 20-16 cushion. PLDT even made it a 22-18 advantage when Tubu misfired on two consecutive attacks.
The former Adamson star made up for it on the next plays as she singlehandedly rejected Malaluan to give Farm Fresh a crucial 23-22 edge before another hit from her clinched the match point at 24-22.
Malaluan still tried to save one point when she ended a long rally, but Tubu unloaded another heavy bullet from the right side to seal the deal and bolster their finals hope.
Tubu posted 28 points anchored on 26 attacks and two blocks while Ces Molina and Royse Tubino chipped in 12 and 10 markers apiece. Molina also added 9 digs as Tubino grabbed 15 receptions.
Dy paced PLDT with 20 points while Savi Davison and Malaluan churned out 18 and 17 markers, but those were not enough for the High Speed Hitters to break through in the semifinals.
