POC General Assembly to suspend PNVF following FIVB decision

The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) General Assembly is set to suspend the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) following FIVB's decision to suspend the national sports association.

On Friday, the FIVB announced the suspension of the PNVF, citing “serious governance concerns and multiple purported violations of the FIVB Code of Ethics.”

“The POC will abide by the decision of the IF (international federation),” POC president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino said in a release.

“It’s their internal rules, but the POC will always be for the welfare of the athletes, their development program, and the Olympic movement,” he added.

The POC also said it would seek clarification on who will oversee volleyball’s domestic affairs following the suspension, after the FIVB announced that it had appointed an ad hoc committee to temporarily manage the PNVF’s affairs.

The POC General Assembly is scheduled to meet in June.
