PVL: Detdet Pepito reunites with grade school teammate Bella Belen at Capital1
Capital1 can expect renewed energy as grade school teammates Bella Belen and Detdet Pepito join forces once again after the Solar Spikers selected the star libero with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 PVL Draft.
During Wednesday's draft, Pepito reflected on their history as teammates and the opportunity to suit up alongside Belen once more.
"Actually, habang papunta ako sa red carpet, tinitingnan ko siya and nagto-throwback lang, 'yung parang teammates kami, since elementary. Ngayong nandito na 'ko sa PVL, siya 'yung teammate ko, and sina Pia Abbu. Sobrang happy lang and excited ako na mas may matutunan din sa kanila," said Pepito.
Pepito bolsters the club's aggressive offseason recruitment, joining a revamped roster that will feature Most Valuable Players Vanie Gandler and Erika Santos, both formerly of Cignal, along with veteran setter Jaja Maraguinot from Nxled in the upcoming PVL on Tour, which is set to begin in July.
Belen, meanwhile, was selected first overall by Capital1 in 2025 and quickly made her mark in the professional ranks, earning Rookie of the Year and Best Outside Spiker honors in her debut season.
Pepito recently concluded an 11-year stint with the University of Santo Tomas, where she earned UAAP Best Libero honors in Seasons 85 and 86.
Capital1 finished with a 4-5 record in the previous conference, bowing out in the play-in tournament.
