AVC Women's Cup: Alas Pilipinas bows out of contention after loss to Chinese Taipei
Alas Pilipinas bowed out of contention in the AVC Women’s Cup after absorbing a 25-16, 25-14, 25-10 defeat to Chinese Taipei in its final group-stage match on Thursday in Candon City, Ilocos Sur.
Alyssa Solomon led the Philippines with six points, while Ces Molina and Nina Ytang added three points each. Alyssa Valdez was limited to two points in the match, which lasted one hour and eight minutes.
With the loss, the Philippines finished the preliminary round with a 2-3 record.
Wan-Yun Hsu paced Chinese Taipei with 13 points as the team improved to 4-0 ahead of its final group-stage match against South Korea later Thursday.
The Philippines, currently third in Pool A, will await the result of the Australia-Uzbekistan match this afternoon to determine its classification-round opponent and final placement.
