Thea Gagate is headed to Japan after signing with SV.League club Denso Airybees.

The club announced the signing on Friday.

"I am incredibly excited to join the Denso Airybees family," Gagate said in a statement released by the club.

"This club has a history of excellence and a tradition of playing with collective energy. Joining the league with them is a massive opportunity. I see so much potential in what this squad can achieve, and I’m ready to give everything I have to contribute to that legacy. Let’s build something unforgettable!"

The 6-foot-2 middle blocker played for ZUS Coffee after being selected as the top pick in the 2024 PVL Rookie Draft.

On the international stage, Gagate has been a key member of Alas Pilipinas. She helped the national team win the silver medal at the 2025 AVC Women's Nations Cup before capturing bronze in the tournament's succeeding edition, which was held in Manila.

A product of De La Salle University, Gagate was part of the Lady Spikers squad that captured the UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball championship.

Gagate becomes the latest Filipina to suit up for Denso Airybees. Alas Pilipinas captain Jia De Guzman previously played for the Japanese club from 2023 to 2025, while Jaja Santiago suited up for the team as well.
