Over 8k residents in Pampanga affected by Habagat receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Thousands of residents who were affected by the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat in San Simon, Pampanga, have received aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation through its Operation Bayanihan project.

According to "24 Oras" on Monday, residents in Santo Niño employed their resourcefulness to deal with the waist-deep floods in the area.

Resident Reynaldo Dagdag, for example, collected trash such as styrofoam, plastic bottles, and a drum to make an improvised floating device to ride on.

Meanwhile, in Barangay San Jose, some residents had to evacuate to a church after being affected by severe flooding.

Resident Myra Cuyugan shared that this is the first time they have experienced such severe flooding in the area.

Per Angelica Quiambao of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in San Simon, around 65,000 individuals in the municipality have been affected by the Habagat.

To help the communities, the GMA Kapuso Foundation distributed food packs, biscuits, and diapers to over 8,000 individuals in San Simon, Pampanga.

The relief goods were personally delivered by the foundation using rubber boats lent by the Philippine Red Cross, the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) of the Philippine Army, and the San Simon MDRRMO for the mercy mission.

The 703rd Infantry Brigade and 70th Infantry Battalion of the PH Army, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Philippine National Police also assisted the GMA Kapuso Foundation in its relief operations.
