4k individuals in Guagua, Pampanga affected by flooding receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

The GMA Kapuso Foundation brought help to residents in Guagua, Pampanga, who continue to be affected by flooding.

According to a report on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, some residents have found temporary work, while some remain unemployed due the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

Mark Anthony Mariano, a resident, had lost his job at a chicharon kitchen in Guagua after the site got flooded. To earn income for his family, he works part-time servicing people using a styrofoam raft.

“Work is needed. Just be patient,” he said in Filipino. “Sometimes, [I service] people, sometimes it’s just food, grocery items that were bought. Three hundred meters from the corner up to the other end.”

Per the report, affected Guagua residents received food packs and biscuits as part of the continuing Operation Bayanihan project of the GMA Kapuso Foundation. Residents were also given hangers to dry their clothing and other items.

“Majority of our skilled workers were not able to work for more than three weeks,” Vivian Bansil of the Guagua Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offic (MSWDO) said in Filipino. “We are very much thankful for your help.”

Among the beneficiaries are families who continue to stay in evacuation centers. Aboard a small boat, the Kapuso Foundation team was also able to reach evacuees in coastal areas.

Overall, a total of 4,000 Guagua residents benefited from the mercy mission.
