A senator is contemplating on filing a resolution that would speed up the process of making the late Comedy King Rodolfo "Dolphy" Vera Quizon as a National Artist.

In a radio interview Wednesday, Senate President Pro Tempore Jose "Jinggoy" Estrada said he plans to file the resolution when the Senate resumes session on July 23.

"Balak ko pagpasok (mag-file) sana ako ng isang resolution para ma-speed up ang process ng paggawad ng National Artist para kay Tito Dolphy," Estrada told dzBB radio.
Himself a movie actor, Estrada said such resolution would have prodded the National Commission on Culture and the Arts to carefully consider giving the award to the veteran actor-comedian.

Estrada also recalled Dolphy calling him an "Indian mango" when he was a guest on his television show "Home Along da Riles."

"Sa aking pananaw wala pang pinapanganak dito sa Pilipinas na pwedeng pumalit sa trono ni Tito Dolphy," he said.

Dolphy died Tuesday night at the Makati Medical Center at age 83, weeks before his 84th birthday on July 25.

His remains were brought to the Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Meanwhile, a separate report by dzBB's Glen Juego said Dolphy's remains were placed in a bronze coffin that he had bought long ago. He was clad in a white suit, the report said.

The public viewing of his remains will not be until Thursday, the report added. — RSJ, GMA News
