Heavy rain and recent earthquakes caused landslides in San Joaquin town in Iloilo province Thursday night and Friday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Saturday. In its 6 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said the landslide incidents occurred at 9:45 p.m. Thursday and 5:45 a.m. Friday. "An initial investigation made by the Municipal Engineering Office (MEO) and (the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office) revealed that said incidents were due to occurrence of numerous heavy rainfalls and earthquake activities within the areas," it said.
