A predawn grenade explosion rattled a residential area in Barangay Sacred Heart in Quezon City Wednesday.

No one was initially reported injured in the incident at 46 Scout Fuentebella in Quezon City, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported.

The explosion damaged a sport utility vehicle parked in one of the houses in the area.

An initial investigation showed the explosion occurred at about 5:40 a.m., and involved an MK2 fragmentation grenade.

An updated dzBB report said police are verifying information that Engineer Reynaldo Fuentes, an official of a construction firm, may have been the target.

The report said Fuentes was inside the house with his family when the explosion occurred.

Police investigators are verifying if the explosion could be related to his work. — LBG, GMA News
