Malacañang on Sunday reassured patients and workers at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center in Quezon City that efforts are ongoing to keep the hospital from getting evicted from the property it was built on.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the Department of Health is working with other concerned agencies to solve the issue confronting the PCMC.

“Rest assured the DOH will work with other agencies to solve this particular issue confronting the Philippine Children’s Medical Center. Tinitiyak yan ng DOH,” Valte said on government-run dzRB radio.

She said the DOH is undertaking the proper actions to make sure the PCMC will not be removed from its present location.

Earlier, lawmakers asked President Benigno Aquino III to issue a presidential proclamation to effectively donate to the PCMC the Quezon City property on which it stands.

This was after the National Housing Authority directed the PCMC to buy the property it had been occupying for more than 30 years, at P1.1 billion. — BM, GMA News
