Mechanic arrested for allegedly raping jogger in a Bacolod City Hall restroom

A mechanic who allegedly raped a 20-year-old jogger inside a restroom in the Bacolod City hall was arrested and charged by local police last weekend.

The victim had to use a bathroom in the middle of her run last Friday, and had gone to the city hall restroom, GMA News TV program "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon" reported.



"Ni-lock [ng biktima] ang pinto tapos nakita niya ang lalaki,” said Senior Inspector Benedicto Villarias. “Pinatay raw ng lalaki ang ilaw, bigla siyang iginapos."

Villarias added that while the jogger tried to fight back, she was overpowered. The victim was wounded on an eyebrow.

The victim then managed to scream, attracting the attention of police officers stationed at a nearby assistance center.

The suspect has insisted he was innocent. "Kung anuman ang alegasyon nila, basta para sa akin malinis ako, wala akong ginawa," he declared.

A medical examination of the victim did find signs that she was sexually molested. She is now with her family and will receive counseling.
