2 killed, 4 hurt as grenade explodes inside Davao Sur police station

At least two people were killed while four others were wounded after a grenade exploded inside a police station in Santa Cruz town in Davao del Sur on Thursday noon.

 

The town police said a certain Reynaldo Salang threw the grenade at the police station, radio dzBB's Tuesday Niu reported.

 

Salang had been arrested Thursday morning for violating the Commission on Elections' gun ban for the Sangguniang Kabataan elections, dzBB said.

 

Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr., however, postponed the gun ban by 15 days amid reports Congress is moving to postpone the youth polls.

 

An initial investigation showed the police were not aware that Salang had a grenade with him.

 

Salang also threatened to detonate the grenade if he were not released, prompting police to shoot him. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
