2 hurt as 14-wheeler truck crashes in Ilocos Sur

 

Two people were hurt and broken beer bottles were left scattered on a road in Santiago town in Ilocos Sur following a freak accident on Thursday.

 

The truck's driver said he lost control of the vehicle after being sideswiped by a bus and the truck's tire blew out, GMA Ilocos reported Friday.

 

"Sumilip ang driver ng bus, nakasalubong na niya kami nung sinabi niyang ibalik niya, huli na kasi balak niyang mag-overtake," said truck driver Jessie Lagatero.

 

But police said their initial investigation showed it was the 14-wheeler truck that sideswiped the tourist bus, after the truck occupied part of the bus' lane.

 

"Yung truck umagaw sa linya ng bus kaya nabangga yung gilid ng bus," said investigator PO3 Dennis Pascua.

 

While the truck driver and one of his companions were injured, four passengers of the bus complained of body pain. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
