Residents of a barangay in Urdaneta City in Pangasinan are complaining about swarms of flies — supposedly from a poultry farm — descending on their homes.
The residents from Barangay Cabuloan asked the city government to act on the matter, GMA Dagupan reported Wednesday.
"Nakakaapekto sa pagluluto sa dami ng langaw... Minsan naka-electric fan, kulambo," Barangay Kagawad Noel Valdez said.
According to the residents, the flies started swarming on their homes after the recent harvest at a nearby poultry farm.
While the poultry farm has been operating in the area for six years, it was only recently that the flies became a problem.
The residents aired their complaint at a public hearing of the city government, where the poultry farm's management promised to address the problem.
"Kami naman inaksyunan namin yung complaint, so nagharap sila, maganda naman ung usapan nila. Mga chemicals sa mga company so sila daw yung maga-assist dun sa may-ari ng poultry," Urdaneta City Mayor Amadeo Perez IV said. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
