Driver of black Innova fled for fear of getting lynched —Taguig PNP
The driver of the black Innova that apparently hit two motorcycles at the Bonifacio Global City earlier this week fled the scene because he was afraid of getting lynched following the incident, a police officer told GMA News TV on Thursday.
Superintendent Celso Rodriguez, deputy director of the Taguig Police Station, identified the driver as Edgardo Horna, 52, of Tipas, Taguig City.
Rodriguez said Horna went to the Taguig police after a video of the incident went viral over social media and netizens called for him to be made accountable.
"Natakot daw po siya na baka siya ay kuyugin," Rodriguez told Kara David in an interview for News to Go.
Rodriguez said investigators are now waiting for the two victims to file the necessary complaints against Horna.
The viral video showed that the Horna's Innova hit the first motorcycle when he switched lanes and appeared to counterflow.
He then hit the second motorcycle in an apparent attempt to escape from the scene.
Rodriguez said Horna claimed that it was the first motorcycle that hit his vehicle instead of the other way around.
Despite the driver's explanations and claims, Rodriguez said that Horna is still facing a case of reckless imprudence resulting to physical injury.
The officer reminded the public not to flee the seen of a crash and attend to an injured party should they ever have the misfortune of being involved in a similar vehicular accident. -Aya Tantiangco/NB, GMA News
