Bureau of Immigration to deport South Korean wanted for swindling
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested last month in Clark, Pampanga a South Korean woman who is wanted for swindling in her home country.
Eom Jae Hwa, 54, was arrested by operatives of the BI fugitive search unit on July 31 on the strength of a deportation warrant issued against her by the BI Board of Commissioners on December 2 last year.
Eom's arrest came after informants tipped BI operatives that she was spotted frequently at the former Clark Air Base in Angeles City.
The BI said Eom failed to extend her tourist visa and renew her passport, making her an illegally staying alien.
Eom is wanted for the transaction she had entered into on Feb. 28, 2011 with a company in Pohang, South Korea for the delivery of five sets of bio-diesel production machines to China.
The machines were exported and delivered but Eom allegedly never paid for them as she had promised.
She then fled to the Philippines to evade prosecution for her crimes, according to the agency. — VVP, GMA News
