Two killed in Zambo Sur road crash

Two allegedly drunk riders were killed when their motorcycle slammed into a coconut tree in Zamboanga del Sur on Saturday night.

Quoting town police investigators, GMA News stringer Aude Hampong  said that the incident took place at about 7:30 p.m. in Purok 2, Barangay Kagawasan in Dimataling town.

Authorities identified the victims as relatives Elmer Balasi, 27 and Dario Balasi, 23, both are residents of Sitio Codilog of Dimataling's  Barangay Poblacion.

An initial police investigation showed that the two were heading home on a motorbike when the incident happened. 

A witness said that the motorbike was swerving left and right shortly before crashing into a coconut tree along the national highway in Barangay Kagawasan.

The two died on the spot due to the impact of the crash, crushing both riders' heads, the witness said.

Police are investigating the cause of the incident.—LBG, GMA News
