Senator Panfilo Lacson has called on the Philippine National Police (PNP) to improve its intelligence work to fulfill its promise of a “less bloody” drug campaign this year.

“Less bloody, more transparent drug campaign by the PNP this year can even be better with more vigor and enthusiasm. And yes, much improved, more dedicated intelligence work,” Lacson said on his Twitter account.

Lacson, former chief of the PNP, said this after PNP spokesperson Chief Superintendent Dionardo Carlos promised a “less bloody and more transparent” drug campaign in 2018.

The police was reassigned to the government’s war on drugs last month. It was directed to provide active support to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

The PNP’s implementation of President Rodrigo Dutere’s war on drugs has been repeatedly questioned and criticized over the bloody killings in the past year, including that of teenagers. —ALG, GMA News
