The Commission on Elections' (Comelec) Second Division has dismissed the electoral protest filed by former Pasig City mayor Robert Eusebio against Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto due to insufficiency in form and substance.

In a statement, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said that the unanimous decision dismissing Eusebio's poll protest was issued last August 30.

"It (Eusebio’s protest) failed to reflect a detailed specification of the acts or omissions complained of showing the electoral frauds, anomalies, or irregularities in the protested precincts," Jimenez said, quoting the decision.

Sotto, the son of actor Vic Sotto and actress Coney Reyes, beat Eusebio by over 100,000 votes in the May 2019 polls.

Prior to being elected as mayor last May, Vico served as a Pasig City councilor from 2016 to 2019.

With this 2019 election win, Vico ended the Eusebio family’s reign in the city which dates back to 1992. —KBK, GMA News
