Around 500 kilos of mishandled pork meat were confiscated by authorities from an eatery in Pasay City on Monday morning, according to a report by Cecille Villarosa on GMA 7 news program 24 Oras.

The meat was found in a small room inside a “mamihan” or noodle house along FB Harrison Avenue.

The Pasay City Veterinary Office said they received information that pork meat from Bulacan was being stored at the eatery, and this was confirmed when they found the mishandled meat stored in old ice boxes and chillers.

Neither did the eatery have the required permits for the meat.

However, since this was the first time the eatery was found in possession of mishandled meat, the owner was simply given a warning.

GMA News attempted to speak to the owner, but he was not present at the time of the visit.

Bernasor meanwhile warned the public not to purchase mishandled meat products.

— Julia Mari Ornedo/DVM, GMA News
