Alden Richards became emotional as he talked about his older brother, a nurse currently at the frontline of the battle against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in California.

In Aubrey Carampel's report for "24 Oras," the Asia's Multimedia Star thanked doctors, nurses, barangay tanods, the police, the military, and other essential personnel who are risking their lives to care for COVID-19 patients.

When he mentioned his kuya, Alden could not help but become teary-eyed.

"Pinipilit ko siya na huwag nang pumasok kasi naka-lockdown sila but sabi niya sa 'kin parang kawawa 'yung mga pasyente," Alden said, and then briefly paused to compose himself. "Naiyak tuloy ako."

"I feel for him kasi kailangan niyang gawin 'yung trabaho sa community," he added.

Alden also thanked GMA reporters for risking their lives to provide up to date information to the Filipinos in this time of crisis.

"Thank you so much sa inyong lahat. Andito lang kami kahit hindi man kami nandyan physically but our prayers our hearts and minds goes to them," Alden said. "Sana matapos na to, 'yun na lang talaga 'yung pinagdadasal nating lahat."

Alden earlier donated food packs to frontliners in his hometown of Biñan, Laguna.

He is currently spending his time with his family amid the enhanced community quarantine implemented in Luzon.

"Life is short, hindi tayo sigurado kagaya nitong COVID-19 parang akala natin ganun-ganun lang 'yung virus pero it's taking toll in all of us," he said.

As of Monday, the Philippines has 462 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 33 deaths. --MGP, GMA News
