Residents begging for alms arrested in Santa Rosa

Authorities on Wednesday arrested several residents begging for alms along the National Highway in Santa Rosa, Laguna for disobeying social distancing measures.

The Santa Rosa Police reprimanded the arrested individuals and then released them, John Consulta reported Tuesday on 24 Oras.

According to the local government of Santa Rosa, the arrested residents had already received aid twice.

Meanwhile, local authorities were preparing for the next batch of aid for every resident in the city.

At present, there were 3,764 confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 cases nationwide with 177 fatalities and 84 recoveries. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
