69-year-old doctor in Cebu City recovers from COVID-19
A 69-year-old doctor in Cebu City was discharged from the hospital on Monday after recovering from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to Athena Imperial's report on "24 Oras," Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Estrella Huang has been treating patients with COVID-19 for two weeks when she herself contracted the disease.
Fortunately, she was able to recover after more than two weeks in the hospital's C-Isolation unit, shared Dr. Yong Larrazabal III in a Facebook post.
Before she left, the hospital staff and other doctors made sure to celebrate her recovery and gleefully cheered her on as she exited the building.
Aside from working in the hospital for more than 30 years, Dr. Larrazabal shared that Huang had a special place in the staff's heart as she also taught in Cebu Doctors University-College of Medicine where most of the younger practitioners studied.
As of Tuesday, the Philippines has 3,764 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 177 deaths and 84 recoveries. --Kaela Malig/MGP, GMA News
