9-year-old beaten by fellow minors in Bulacan cemetery

A nine-year-old child was badly injured after being beaten and clubbed with a pipe on his head and his back reportedly by fellow minors in a cemetery in Norzagaray, Bulacan.

The parents of the child, named as "Jason" in a report on GMA's "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday, said four minors were to blame for the beating, including a female who fetched him from their house.

"Sabi sinundo daw siya tapos ang kwento dito, 'pag dating daw doon sinuntok daw siya. Sabi ko 'Bakit hindi tumakbo, anak?' 'Hindi ako makatakbo mama kasi hawak nila kabilaan kong kamay,' sabi niyang ganon," Jason's mother said in the report.

"Walang kalaban laban 'yung anak ko sa inyo. Sa alam ko walang kasalanan 'yung anak ko," she added.

The female who fetched Jason, reportedly 11 years of age, has been questioned by Norzagaray police and has since denied involvement in the beating. The three rest of the companions, all male, have yet to be identified.

Following the beating, Jason crawled to another path where he was found and brought to a hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged, but his parents are considering having him readmitted as he having difficulty eating and opening one of his eyes.

"'Yung inaano ko yung ulo niya eh. Kung may namuo ba daw na dugo diyan. Kung sino pong gustong tumulong sa anak ko nagmamakaawa po kami," Jason's father said in the report. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/DVM, GMANews
