P1.1M worth of drugs netted in 4 different ops in Taguig —PNP
Some P1.1 million worth of suspected drugs were seized in a series of anti-illegal drug operations in Taguig City on Tuesday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Thursday.
The four different operations, which were spearheaded by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), led to the confiscation of illegal drugs with a standard drug price of P1,110,440.
Initial report revealed that a 26-year-old tricycle driver identified as Halil Abo was arrested in possession of two heat sachets of shabu worth P173,400.
An hour later, operatives of the NCR Drug Enforcement Unit impounded another P515,440 worth of drugs in a separate buy-bust operation leading to the arrest of 38-year-old Wynlove Buco and 43-year-old Eusebio Bahia Jr.
The Taguig City police also nabbed 44-year-old Raffy Lumenda and recovered illegal drugs with a street value of P345,440.
Also on the same day, two men named Alvin Co, 36, and Jessie Christopher Cruz, 38, were arrested along M.L. Quezon St., Purok 5, Barangay Lower Bicutan, Taguig City with suspected packs of shabu worth P76,160.
PNP chief Police General Dionardo Carlos commended the law enforcers who took part in the operations.
“Successive operations in a day — this is a feat. I thank the dedication of the police units involved. This huge amount of illegal drugs must be reflective of the network of narcotic operations that may be behind these cases,” he said.
“The next step is to identify the big fish,” Carlos added.
In 2021, over P8.5 billion worth of illegal drugs were seized by the PNP during its operations with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. A total of 66,278 drug suspects were arrested. —Giselle Ombay/KBK, GMA News
